Course Summary: The On-The-Job Training (OJT) Trainer Fundamentals course uses the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) model to focus on inputs, process, and outputs for each of the five phases of training. This course design provides a general overview of the five phases of the SAT model. OJT is compared to other training settings such as simulator, mockup, lab, workshop, self-study, and classroom. Characteristics and qualifications for OJT trainers are examined along with teaching methods such as Adult Learning Principles, Adult Learner Characteristics, and Motivating Adults.
The final segment of the course includes the steps for OJT preparation and delivery, purpose and use of an OJT guide; knowledge prerequisites for OJT, how to conduct demonstrations, and using questioning as part of the OJT. The course consists of lecture, question and answer session, and practical exercises.
Target Audience: This course is intended to teach those who conduct OJT how to conduct an OJT.

Course Evaluation: Students must satisfactorily complete a practical evaluation to receive course credit.
