Course Summary: The Asbestos Awareness (formerly names Asbestos Control in a Regulated Area) course provides training on the recognition of asbestos materials, exposure hazards, and chronic health effects. The course retrain frequency is 12 months.
The course covers the following topics.

Fundamentals of asbestos identification

History of use and common uses of asbestos

Administrative and engineered controls

Respiratory hazards and protection methods

Personal protective equipment requirements

Regulated area entry/egress requirements

Action levels, permissible exposure limits, and medical surveillance

Common asbestos related diseases

Abatement techniques and waste disposal requirements
Target Audience: This course is designed for Class IV asbestos workers not requiring state certification.
Course Prerequisites: There are no course prerequisites.
Course Evaluation: An examination will be used to measure whether the student has met the training objectives.
The student must attain a score of 80 percent or higher on a written examination for successful course completion.
Course Length: 3 hours
Course Frequency: 6 times each quarter and upon request
