Course Summary: The Worker Hazard Communication course provides awareness-level understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act hazard communication program, the hazards associated with chemicals in the workplace, and how to obtain and use the chemical hazard information to assure personal protection.
This training covers the following topics:

Awareness and attitude regarding hazardous materials

Hazardous material regulations and responsibilities

Major chemical handling safety points

Basic chemistry and chemical symbology

Chemical terminology

Toxicology terminology

Labels and material safety data sheets

Detection of chemicals in the workplace

Personal protection
Target Audience: This course is intended for hazardous chemical workers.
Course Prerequisites: There are no course prerequisites.
Course Evaluation: An examination will be used to measure whether or not the student has met the training objectives. The student must attain a score of 80 percent or higher on the written examination for successful course completion.
Course Length: 4 hours
Course Frequency: 1 time each quarter and upon request
