Radiological Worker I Accelerated Initial Training:
Course 0207A1
Course Summary: The Radiological Worker I Accelerated Initial Training course is designed for personnel needing unescorted access to radiological areas where personal protective clothing is not required. Specific performance requirements must be met to satisfactorily complete this training. The retrain frequency is 2 years. The core and site specific academic portion includes the following lessons from Radiological Worker I Initial Training, course 020701:

Radiological Fundamentals

Biological Effects

Radiation Limits

As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Program

Personnel Monitoring Programs

Radiological Postings and Controls

Radiological Emergencies

Self-Survey:
The following practical factor elements are included:

Entering a simulated radiological buffer area and high radiation area

Responding to simulated abnormal situations

Responding to simulated alarms or faulty radiological control equipment

Frisking for personnel contamination

Verifying instrument, operation, and response
While standardized academic training is designed for delivery in a classroom setting, alternatives may be used in place of classroom training. Knowledge objectives provide the basis for learning skills and tasks to be performed in practical factors training which uses hands-on training to demonstrate mastery of the ALARA principles, contamination control techniques, and responses to abnormal conditions. The training is conducted without placing either personnel or facilities at risk.
Target Audience: General employee in all disciplines. Reading and understanding English is necessary.
Course Prerequisites: Prior Radiological Worker experience or training.
Course Evaluation: A computer (CBT) examination and a practical evaluation are used to measure student mastery of the training objectives. Students must attain a score of 80 percent or higher on the written examination and a satisfactory score for the practical evaluation.
Course Length: Self-paced. Eight hours is allocated for the completion of this training. The classroom version of this course is 16 hour in duration.
Course Frequency: Upon request
