Course Summary: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Radiological Control Technician (RCT), Site Academics Self-Paced course is designed, developed, and implemented to meet the initial training needs of the RCTs in a self-paced format. Instructors are available for assistance. The course offers Hanford Site academic training in radiological controls, surveys, sampling techniques, shipping and receiving radioactive materials, respiratory protection requirements, As Low As Reasonably Achievable techniques, and radiological work coverage. Target Audience: This course is intended for RCT candidates and first line radiological control manager with previous education and/or experience.
Education Prerequisites: High school education or equivalent and one year of algebra and physical science.
Course Prerequisites: DOE RCT Fundamentals Academics (Phase I, Part I), Course 022040 or
DOE RCT Fundamentals Academics Self-Paced, Course 02204T
Course Evaluation: Written examinations will be used to measure student mastery of the knowledge and skills as identified by learning objectives, necessary to perform satisfactorily on the job.
A score of 80 percent or higher on written examinations is needed for course credit.
Course Length: Self-paced. The classroom version of this course is 160 hours in duration. Exam time is approximately four hours.
