Course Summary:
The Scaffold Safety for Inspector course provides classroom instruction on current OSHA standards and other requirements along with hands-on inspection exercises for competent persons inspecting scaffolds. The course requires active participation in workshops and inspection exercises pertaining to the most common scaffolds used on the Hanford Site. Completion of this course provides those attending with the knowledge that a competent person for inspection of scaffolds should have for inspecting the most commonly used scaffolds on the Hanford Site. The retrain frequency for this course is 36 months.

The course covers the following topics.

OSHA requirements for tubular welded frame, tube and coupler, mobile, and Safway systems scaffolds
Duties and responsibilities of a competent person for inspection only purposes
Guardrail and access requirements
Status tags and safety inspection checklist
Design, erection, and use hazards recognition
Lessons learned

Target Audience:
This course is designed for personnel who will be responsible for pre-shift inspection of scaffolds on the Hanford Site.

Course Prerequisites:
There are no course prerequisites; however, those attending should have at least a basic understanding of scaffolding.

Course Evaluation:
An open book quiz will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.

Students will be required to successfully inspect tube and coupler scaffold, welded frame scaffold, mobile scaffold, and system scaffold.

Course Length:
8 hours

Course Frequency:
2 times per month or upon request
