Overhead Mechanical/Electrical Hoist Inspection:

Course Summary:
The Overhead Crane Inspection course will enable the student to: identify hoist components as related to inspection and maintenance; identify the requirements for hoist inspection as related to manufacturers', state, and federal acceptance criteria; identify the requirements for hoist inspection as related to inspectors within DOE-RL-92-36, and perform an inspection of the mechanical components of hoists as outlined in DOE-RL-92-36. The retrain frequency for this course is 36 months.

The training includes the following topics:

Equipment nomenclature-hoist types, major components
Inspection and maintenance-requirements, safety considerations
Inspection and maintenance techniques, special considerations

Target Audience:
This course is intended for employees with responsibilities for maintenance.

Course Prerequisites:
There are no course prerequisites.

Course Evaluation:
A practical evaluation of correct disassembly and reassembly of two types of hoists.

Course Length:
8 hours

Course Frequency:
4 times each year and upon request
