Course Summary: The Trainers' Training course introduces the skills necessary to develop, present, and evaluate performance-based training. The Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation model of Training (ADDIE) is introduced as an effective standard methodology to guide the development of training for successful business and industry.
Using various instructional strategies - including brainstorming, group discussion, roleplays, teamwork, lectures, reading, and games - students are introduced to the principles, tools, and techniques necessary to develop effective training which improves job performance. Learning activities are structured to provide a practical environment for these instructional skills. Students make several short presentations throughout the course, allowing the opportunity to develop delivery skills along with training design skills. The student's final presentations are videotaped and critiqued. The following topics are covered:

Role of the trainer

Training needs and task analysis

Performance objectives

Instructional strategies and media

Adult learners and learning styles

Evaluation strategies

Testing methods

Lesson Plans

Training delivery

Management of the training environment
Target Audience: Individuals having responsibility for developing, presenting or evaluating training for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or DOE contracts personnel. Students may be either new to the training field or experienced.
Course Prerequisites: There are no course prerequisites.
Course Evaluation: There is no written examination. Mastery of learning objectives is accomplished through student participation in practical exercises and presentations.
Course Length: 40 hours
Course Frequency: 1 time each year and upon request.
