Course Summary: :
The 40 Hour Hazardous Waste Safety and Health Training course is an in-depth course designed to satisfy the classroom portion of the training specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1910.120 Standard for hazardous waste workers at hazardous waste sites and Treatment Storage and Disposal (TSD) facilities.
The following topics are included in the training:

Regulations that control hazardous waste operational duties

On-site manuals that regulate hazardous waste operational duties.

Types of hazards and hazardous materials

Factors to be considered when working with hazardous materials

Methods used for hazard recognition and control

Identification of accident prevention

Confined spaces

Dose response relationship, effects and primary routes of entry

Personal protective equipment

Spills

Hazard communication program and standard

MSDSs

Decontamination
Target Audience: :
Those personnel who have responsibility for performing hazardous waste duties at hazardous waste sites and Treatment Storage and Disposal (TSD) facilities
Course Prerequisites: Medically cleared to wear negative pressure respiratory equipment and clean shaven.
Course Evaluation: An examination together with practical exercises and Job Performance Measures (JPMs) will be used to measure whether or not the student has met the training objectives. The student must attain a score of 80 percent or higher on the written examination for successful course completion and perform the practicals without error.
