Course Summary:
This a two-day course is designed to familiarize attendees with operational considerations for conducting an officer or citizen down rescue as well as the practical application of various techniques and tactics for different rescue situations. Demonstrations, practical scenarios utilizing simunitions and classroom instruction on the philosophical and practical issues will be the focus of the course. Emphasis will be placed on utilization of shield(s) and vehicles during rescue operations. This course is geared toward the patrol officer who may be faced with performing a rescue operation.
The local Hazardous Materials Management Emergency Response (HAMMER) training facility's practical areas will be used to present "real as it gets" training.
The course covers the following topics:
Operational considerations for conducting a rescue
Practical application of various techniques
Tactics for different rescue situations
Philosophical and practical issues
Utilization of shield(s) and vehicles
Target Audience:
This course is intended for use by sworn law enforcement officers or military personnel engaged in active shooter response.
Course Prerequisites:
None required.
Course Evaluation:
Practical exercises will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.
