Course Summary: This class is an 8-hour hands-on instructional course. It includes three hours of search and rescue operations under various smoke filled environments and conditions. An additional five hours of "live fire" instruction covers ground floor, second floor and basement training. Live Fire Training in Ground Floor, Second Floor and Basement Conditions

Radios are assigned to each student and basic radio communications are covered.
Target Audience: Fire Firefighters, Search and Rescue Teams, or any Emergency Medical System performing duties pertaining to such activities.
Course Prerequisites: Students need to be current on IFSTA Essentials 4th Edition, Chapter 2 "Fire Behavior," Chapter 7 "Rescue and Extrication" and Chapter 14 "Fire Control" prior to the start of class. Each student will be responsible for bringing full structural firefighting Personnel Protective Equipment. All SCBA's of the department's used must be of an approved positive pressure type and include one spare SCBA bottle with current hydro dates. Prior arrangements can be made for the HAMMER Training Center to provide Scott SCBA's and bottles for the day at no additional cost. However, the equipment used by the student's department is recommended for familiarization purposes.
Course Evaluation: Practical exercises will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.
